Unzicker finishes second in MARS Championship Series

After Friday’s opener succumbed to Mother Nature, Ryan Unzicker entered his KDM Services No. 24 Late Model into battle at Tri-City Speedway (Granite City, Ill.) on Saturday for the MARS Championship Series finale.

Drawing 36 cars for the Late Model portion of the track’s annual Mod Mania, Unzicker backed up the sixth-fastest qualifying effort in his group with a third-place finish in his heat. Starting the $5,000-to-win A-Main in 12th, Ryan got caught behind another car spinning on the second circuit that brought an immediate end to his weekend.

Despite the early exit in Saturday’s finale, Ryan finished second in the final MARS Championship Series point standings.
