11th-place finish in Illini 100 opener at Farmer City Raceway

Ryan Unzicker was back in action on Friday with a short trip to Farmer City Raceway (Farmer City, Ill.) for the World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series doubleheader weekend.

Drawing a stout field of 45 Late Models for the annual Illini 100, Unzicker squeezed into Friday’s preliminary with the fourth-and-final transfer spot in his heat. With a $7,000 top prize up for grabs, Ryan climbed four positions in the 40-lap opener to finish 11th.

On Saturday, Ryan slipped over the cushion on both laps of his time trial session and was never able to recover. Following an eighth-place finish in his heat, his bid for the $20,000-to-win Illini 100 finale drew to an early end with a sixth-place B-Main outing.
